Since the first annual PDMA Sharing Conference was launched 21 years ago, pharmaceutical executives concerned with overcoming the challenges of maintaining compliance with The Prescription Drug Marketing Act have been coming together to find the solutions and answers they have been looking for. Over the decades, these attendees have addressed dynamic industry changes that have had their impact on their multi-national, mid-size, small-size pharmaceutical companies and an emerging biotechs. The impetus to find solutions and answers was even greater when we met at The 2011 PDMA Sharing Conference at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio just a short time ago. It is no coincidence that our conference theme for 2011, Perspectives on a Changing Landscape, gave us the opportunity to focus on some timely and pressing issues that demand an enlightened approach. In 2010, we introduced a new learning track, Fraud and Abuse, which explored related sample accountability topics such as Investigations, PhRMA Code, State Regulations, OIG, Sunshine Act and Product Diversion. In follow up surveys, attendees reported their overwhelming appreciation for general sessions and workshops that focused on a new wide range of PDMA-related fraud and abuse issues. We managed to offer these new learning opportunities without compromising our traditional focus on PDMA Compliance which, attendees told us, was equally meaningful to their learning and sharing experience. There have been other expansions of our agenda, too. A few years ago, we began an outreach to pharmaceutical professionals with job functions that are related to sample compliance although not entirely focused in this area. Their way of looking at compliance and PDMA-related issues continues to provide new insights that are paramount to our growth. Consistently, we attract vendor industry partners who share our goal in providing a safe drug supply to our nation. Our vendor partners are solution-driven, committed to initiating products and services that provide greater day-to-day efficiencies for a myriad of PDMA-related compliance responsibilities. They come to the PDMA Sharing Conference every year, not only to demonstrate what they have to offer, but to listen to what the industry is saying about its needs. As The PDMA Alliance Board begins thinking about our 2012 conference, we are considering every aspect that has contributed to decades of success. We will be focusing on timely and challenging issues by including speakers with a firm grasp of how current and pending state and federal legislation will impact the future of our industry. Whether you have attended the conference before or are considering attending for the first time in 2012, you are well aware that the pharmaceutical industry is at a critical impasse in some compliance areas. And if you are limited to attending just one compliance-related conference in 2012, The PDMA Sharing Conference is the learning and sharing, educational and value-packed event you won’t want to miss, with added benefits that go well beyond the annual meeting. The most significant benefit begins with your paid registration for The 2012 PDMA Sharing Conference, when you gain free annual membership to The PDMA Alliance and access to the password-protected Members Only section our website. Alliance membership is your exclusive opportunity to continue the learning and sharing from conference-to-conference, throughout the year.
